Tonight I thought I would be a good mother and actually make dessert for my family. The truth is I had forgotten to buy ice cream (my family's Sunday treat) and so I had to try to come up with a Sunday dessert fast. I have fond memories of my mother making pudding for dessert and putting them in these gray "Tupperware" cups. I remember seeing them in the fridge and getting so excited for pudding. Well, I looked in the cupboard and did have two vanilla puddings. I whipped them up and put the pudding into these much prettier ice cream glasses. I stuck them into the fridge to get hard and just couldn't wait until the kids ate their dinner, so they could see the pretty pudding I had made. Well, the kids ate their dinner well. They gobbled up their green beans and chicken. I think they all had seconds of their veggies. Now, it was time to unveil the yummy surprise. When I brought it out they all turned up their noses. All three of them said, "I don't like pudding!" Of-course, they have never had it and so they really didn't know if they liked it or not. A normal mom would have just said, "fine, it is dessert! You don't HAVE to eat dessert." Well, not me! I worked hard (sort of) and wanted them to try it and like it! Can I just tell you, my kids are so weird! We had to force feed them DESSERT! My parents were over and we were laughing so hard. "EAT YOUR DESSERT OR YOU WON'T GET ANY MORE VEGGIES!" We have never had to force our kids to eat veggies. They LOVE them...every kind! Apparently we have to make them try desserts. CRAZY! We finally got Melanie to taste it by giving her gram crackers to dip. Spencer took his "one" taste and wouldn't eat anymore! We tried and tried to get Chelsea to try it and she just refused. Oh well, I guess they are not pudding eaters. Wait! Maybe, I will try chocolate!!
