I love what my friend Shayla does on her blog. She quotes her kids when they say cute and funny things. I just think this is so funny. Our kids are so hilarious aren't they? Well, today it is just pouring rain here in sunny California and I am just trying to get my kids and myself into church on time. Melanie is ahead of us and comes running back toward me. She is sooo excited! I wish you could have seen her face! She was beaming! I saw her Uncle John just ahead, so my first thought was, "wow, she is really excited to see him!" When I ask her what was up, she says, "MOM!!! President Hinckley is HERE! HE IS HERE!" I didn't want to shoot her down too quickly, so I asked, "where?" There was a Elderly man standing in the foyer with a cane who resembled him quite a bit. She was sort of sad to learn it wasn't really President Hinckley. It made me so happy that she knows who President Hinckley is and that she would be so excited to see a man of God.
Update: after 8:00 p.m.- Wow, She is so in tune! I sat down with the kids tonight and told them our dear Prophet passed. Melanie jumped up and said, "I guess you were right mom, that wasn't him at church then." She then got really sad and said, "mom, now who will take care of our church?" Time to teach her more about all our wonderful apostles!

How cute is your Melanie and how much greater and more meaningful is that story a few short hours later given President Hinckley's passing. Your little Melanie is in tune. I want to know how the news sat with her after she was convinced it was President Hinckley that was there yesterday! Great story to remember for years to come...
