Six Quirky Things About Me!

This is a tag from my friend Sarah! It only took me a week to think of things. By the way I tag Denise, Becky E., Kasea, Evan Mackay and who ever else wants to do it! These things are fun! Thanks, Sarah

Here are 6 things that make me a little Quirky!!!! (sorry it is so long)

1. I love Taco Bell! If someone offered me the choice of Taco Bell or food from a fancy Mexican restaurant, I would take Taco Bell! This might sound gross to some of you, but there is something about their refried beans and their famous hot sauce!! YUMMOOO! The BEST thing is, it is cheap! Yah, I know and fatting! My roommate in college, Becky and I used to drive ½ an hour away to get our taco bell. THEN, we would steal extra packets of hot sauce. OH COME ON…you know you have done it too!

2. I HATE SHOES! Most girls love them. Why? NOT ME! The only time you will find shoes on my feet is at 8:00 in the morning while exercising! It just doesn’t feel good to exercise barefoot. My tennis shoes are off the feet by 9:30 a.m. and don’t return to my feet until the next day at 8:00 a.m. I am always barefoot! I am guilty of driving all the way to the store, several times, only to return home for shoes. Is it even legal to drive barefoot? I do it all the time! I don’t know why this is exactly?? It could be because my mother never wore shoes, so I followed her sweet example. It could be because I wear a size 12 women’s and they don’t make very many of those. No cute ones anyway. I think the real reason is because you usually have to wear socks with shoes and socks are just not OK! Here is my thing on socks. Socks are the most annoying things ever. You put them on, either with shoes or without shoes, you start walking…everything is fine for a while and then that random seam above your toes begins to shift and before you know it your whole sock has shifted and that seam that is supposed to stay above your toes is now under your toes. AND the part that is called the heel??? HUMMM!!! That is the most irritating feeling! You know what I'm talking about. You are left with the uncomfortable feeling of a crooked sock. OK, then there is HOT FEET! Is it just me? My feet get SO hot in socks and shoes that my feet burn like fire and sweat. I really hate that feeling. Don’t even getting me going on the whole tights/nylon thing. Those are a whole other feeling. Girls, you know what I am talking about. Sandals and flip-flops are the only way to go. You slip them on easily and in one second you can take them off with just as much ease as putting them on. I lived back east, in the coldest weather ever, for a time. My friends would laugh at me as I walked around in sandals on the icy snow. Yah, I would freeze, but to me, cold feet are better than hot, sweaty feet!

3. I am so competitive. Maybe it is because I have 4 older brothers. Who knows? I guess it has made me part of who I am today. My competitive nature has helped me many times, but there is one time that I will never forget. I was in labor with my second child, Melanie. I was dilated to a six and I was beginning to feel the pain. There was a woman who came in the same time I did. We shared the same midwife. We were moving along at about the same pace. I started begging for an epidural. Those who know epidurals know that they can slow your delivery process down. Dan looked at me in the eye like a true coach and said, “do you want to have your midwife deliver this baby and get out of here, or do you want to be sitting here while your midwife is delivering the women next door?” I knew right then I had to go natural and beat that women! I did it too!

4. I have to be comfy! I really don’t like dressing up just to run my kids around all day! I hate that all the moms are looking beautiful when taking their kids to school. It is 8:00 for peat sake! I am in sweats or for those hot days…sweat shorts. I do get dressed in “clothes” after my shower, but as soon as I get home, I change again! NO SOCKS though!

5. My friends laugh at me! I am an organized freak! No, I am not OCD by any means. I just like things put away the right way so I can find them. That is, things that are out in the open and that have many parts. My scrapbook room on the other hand, is a mess. It makes my husband mad. I so bad want to organize his garage! I tried once. He got really mad at me and told me to leave his stuff alone. He said he won’t be able to find anything if I organize it. WHAT??? OK, so you have to see my kid’s toy cupboard. I would take a picture of it, but no camera today…sorry! You will have to just come visit me.

6. I have this thing about toys. We have a LOT of toys for our kids and this is why. It’s all me!! OK, say Spencer gets Spiderman for his birthday. Well, I automatically think, he has to have batman and robin and wonder woman and flash…see, where I am going? I have to complete the set. If Melanie gets a Cinderella Barbie, she has to have Snow White and Ariel and Sleeping Beauty…This has slowed down a bit as I am running out of room in my toy cupboard and I am really sick of picking up toys off the floor constantly. Bad, Bad, MOMMY!

Mine use to be Taco Bell, but now it is Sharkey's with that wonderful sauce poured over a bean cheese burrito. Yes, your mom is still barefoot inside the house, but outside it is sandles, flip floops or shoes. Guess the old feet have gotten sensative. My flipflops use to be my 'attention getter' if you kids will remember. You are amazing with those organized toy cupboards, but when there open...look out. Love you Lisa, you are an awesome mom! and a good friend!

Cute quirks! Remember when we had that baptism in the singles ward and I had to give a talk? Showed up without shoes. oops. We're a lot alike still and it's been years. How funny!

I love it. Especially the one with the socks. I also agree the other women looking all nice as they go to the store and such, what ever.

I loved this post! I swear we could hang out and have a fabulous time...I give a resounding YES to most of these. Taco Bell: when I was on my mission Isaac used to send me taco bell hot sauce in the mail just to torture me...no joke! I HATE SHOES AND SOCKS. I agree with every word you said! I have so many dang flip flops everyone laughs at me. I have to be comfy, but I draw the line at PJ's in public...other than that, who cares? OCD? K, I got one up on you...I would call mine OCD in a heartbeat. The dead give away? It drives everyone in my house crazy!!! LOL
